Honda is ready to make its mark in the booming European EV market with the introduction of the e:Ny1, a fully electric crossover set to rival the Peugeot E-2008. With a design reminiscent of Honda's HR-V, the e:Ny1 stands out with its impressive 201 horsepower electric drivetrain, delivering a range of 412 km (256 miles).

While sharing some design cues with the HR-V, this electric SUV features an entirely unique EV-specific front-wheel-drive platform called e:N Architecture F. The platform prioritizes stiffness, boasting a body constructed with 47 percent high-tensile steel, as well as a low center of gravity and efficient underfloor aerodynamics.

Powering the e:Ny1 is a single motor located in the front, generating 204 hp (150 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of torque. It is paired with a 68.8 kWh battery, which charges from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 45 minutes. This substantial battery capacity allows for an impressive electric driving range of 412 km (256 miles).

Although the e:Ny1's SUV proportions may not indicate a significant departure from traditional combustion-powered vehicles, Honda assures that the positioning of the electric powertrain and hardware contributes to a spacious interior. The infotainment system takes center stage, featuring a large 15.1-inch portrait touchscreen that spans from the top of the dashboard down to the main console. While the climate controls are integrated within the touchscreen, enhancing the vehicle's sleek aesthetics, some users may find it less intuitive.

Expected to be competitively priced at around £32,000/€36,000, the Honda e:Ny1 will enter the European market later this year, directly challenging popular electric SUVs like the Peugeot e-2008 and Hyundai Kona Electric.
