Mazda is upping the ante on the all-terrain capabilities of its BT-50 pickup truck with a range of off-road enhancements designed to tackle the toughest challenges. The latest additions include a lift kit and a snorkel, aimed at providing enthusiasts with the ultimate off-road experience.

The third-generation Mazda BT-50, introduced in 2020, underwent a significant transformation by shifting from the Ford Ranger underpinnings to the robust Isuzu D-Max platform. While maintaining its distinct Mazda identity with a redesigned front fascia that adheres to the brand's Kodo design language, the BT-50 now boasts improved performance and enhanced capabilities.

Mazda has introduced two accessory packs exclusively for the Australian market, providing BT-50 owners with the means to fortify their trucks. The first package, known as SP Pro, brings a wealth of features to the table. The highlight of this upgrade is the Nitrocharger, which incorporates new springs that raise the vehicle by two inches (five centimeters), significantly improving its all-terrain capabilities. Complementing the lift kit are twin tube shock absorbers, exclusive 18-inch wheels, and a powerful light bar integrated into the front grille, illuminating the path ahead for up to an impressive 1,866 feet (569 meters). As a finishing touch, a stylish decal adorns the bottom section of the doors, adding a touch of ruggedness to the BT-50's appearance. The SP Pro package is available at a price of 7,668 AUD or approximately $5,100 USD (at current exchange rates).

For those seeking an even more formidable off-road experience, the Thunder Pro package is the ultimate choice. Building upon the SP Pro upgrades, the Thunder Pro introduces the Old Man Emu BP-51 suspension, equipped with nitrogen-filled dampers featuring a remote reservoir. This advanced suspension system allows for manual adjustment of compression and rebound, enabling drivers to fine-tune their truck's performance to suit their preferences. Additionally, the inclusion of a snorkel equips the BT-50 to navigate through deeper waters with confidence. Illumination is further enhanced with the addition of a light bar and two round LED driving lights, providing visibility of over 0.7 miles (1.1 kilometers) ahead. As with the SP Pro, stylish decals are included to complete the Thunder Pro's rugged aesthetic. The Thunder Pro package is priced at 9,046 AUD ($6,060 USD) and offers a saving of 500 AUD ($335 USD) compared to purchasing the items individually.

Mazda recognizes the value of these off-road enhancements for existing BT-50 owners. Therefore, both the SP Pro and Thunder Pro packages can be retrofitted to vehicles, complete with a generous two-year warranty. For customers considering a new BT-50 with either package, Mazda extends the warranty to an impressive five years with unlimited mileage. Extensive testing has been conducted in Australia to ensure that the ABS and electronic stability control systems remain uncompromised.
