The future Opel Crossland promises to be a departure from its present model. Despite being covered in full-body camouflage in the latest spy images, the hidden redesign doesn't fully obscure its newly squared shape.

This updated Crossland leans more towards a conventional crossover than its predecessor, which resembled a raised hatchback. The overhauled model boasts a more vertical front-end, merging the 2022 Astra's headlight design with a distinct bumper and other unique elements.

In terms of utility, the refreshed design focuses on expanding the rear cargo space, featuring a more level roof and hatch. The tail lights are mostly covered, leaving only tiny segments visible and keeping their design a mystery. Although the interior hasn't been showcased yet, it's anticipated to get significant updates, including a digital dashboard and a more expansive infotainment screen, possibly mimicking the recent Astra upgrades.

The new Crossland will slot between the smaller Mokka and larger Grandland in Opel's lineup when it goes on sale. The Crossland variants seen in these new spy photos are electric. One prototype displays orange lightning symbols on its camouflage, while another sports a lithium-ion battery label on its rear window. Specifics about the powertrain configuration are still tightly guarded.

Opel is likely to offer a narrow range of petrol and diesel engines in this rejuvenated crossover as the brand nears its 2028 electrification goal. However, no concrete information has been disclosed regarding potential engine options or the prospective Stellantis platform that might underlie the new model.

The reveal date for the updated Crossland has not been confirmed, although speculation points towards a debut and market release in 2024.
