In these pictures, a prototype Cybertruck is seen at a Tesla Supercharger. Right beside it is a Rivian R1T, giving us a hint of what to expect when the edgy electric truck comes out later this year (maybe).
From the images, the Cybertruck appears slightly larger and longer than the R1T. To give you an idea, the Rivian R1T is 217.1 inches (5,515 mm) long, 81.8 inches (2,078 mm) wide, and 78.2 inches (1,986 mm) tall at maximum suspension height.
On a related note, a Cybertruck reservation holder recently measured a test model. The width was 78 inches (1,981 mm) across the rear tires, and the rear bumper spanned 72 inches (1,829 mm).
Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian R1T
In a recent earnings call, Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, stated the Cybertruck will be less than 228 inches (5,791 mm) long and have a bed over 72 inches (1,829 mm). This makes it garage-friendly.
For context, the Ford F-150 Lightning, another U.S.-made electric truck, is 232.2 inches long (5,898 mm), 83.6 inches (2,123 mm) wide, and 78.3 inches (1,988 mm) tall, according to official specs. So, the Cybertruck may fall between its two primary competitors in length. However, we won't know for sure until the delayed launch event, if Tesla discloses this data when the first units are ready to ship.
Initially expected to debut last quarter, the Cybertruck's launch was postponed, leaving about two million reservation holders in the dark about a concrete release date.
