Honda has announced the discontinuation of its Honda e electric car in Europe. The company's European division confirmed that this electric hatchback is no longer available for order in the region.

Despite acknowledging that the Honda e attracted many new customers, the car's journey in Europe ends, likely due to low sales. Honda hasn't disclosed specific European sales figures. However, German data provides insight: only two Honda e cars were registered in October in Germany, with a total of 101 for the year.

The decision might also relate to production costs and consumer demand. The Honda e, known for its unique design and cozy interior, was initially popular. However, its high price of 39,900 euros and limited range of 220 kilometers (as per WLTP standards) made it a less practical choice for many.

The Honda e debuted in Europe in 2020, with a special edition released in 2022. However, with only 50 units available across Europe, this didn't significantly boost sales. The car's last notable activity in Europe was its involvement in a 2022 V2G pilot project.

Looking ahead, Honda plans to focus more on electric vehicle (EV) development in Europe. The upcoming e:Ny1 electric SUV will be their primary EV offering. For context, the e:Ny1 recorded 21 new registrations in Germany in October, totaling 189 for the year.
