Mastering subtle design is an art. The goal is to achieve simplicity without dullness. Bridgestone's Super RAP Evo wheels exemplify this, bringing back a revered Japanese design from the 1980s. These wheels are perfect for classic Mazda Miata or Toyota Corolla.

At a glance, the RAP Evo might seem like a typical steel wheel used for spares or mounting winter tires. However, these wheels are deceptive - they're made of aluminum. The circular openings around the rim aren't just for show; they were originally designed for rally cars and gymkhana competitions. The holes help prevent rocks, mud, or debris from hitting the brake components, offering an advantage over traditional multi-spoke designs.

The Super RAP Evo wheels are lightweight and were about 30 percent more affordable than their competitors, as reported by Kyusha Shoes. Initially launched in 13- and 14-inch sizes in the early 1980s, they expanded to 15 inches later that decade. The modern iteration is a one-piece design, different from the original two-piece construction, and they hit the market in early December 2023.

These wheels don't necessarily give a car a bold look but instead offer an aesthetic that complements vehicles from the 1980s and '90s, like the first-generation Miata and AE86 Toyota Corolla.

The Super RAP Evo is available in four configurations:

  • Size: 15x7, Bolt Pattern: 4x100, Offset: +20, Center Depth: 56 mm
  • Size: 15x7, Bolt Pattern: 4x114.3, Offset: 0, Center Depth: 71 mm
  • Size: 15x7.5, Bolt Pattern: 4x100, Offset: +20, Center Depth: 56 mm
  • Size: 15x7.5, Bolt Pattern: 4x114.3, Offset: 0, Center Depth: 71 mm

In the United States, Rev9 Autosport offers the 15x7 size in the 4x100 bolt pattern for $289.99 each, and the 15x7.5 size in 4x100 for $299.99. Shipping is expected to start in early February 2024.
