The LBX Morizo RR Concept makes its world debut today at the Tokyo Auto Salon, a reinterpretation of Lexus’ all-new compact crossover as "a high-performance model that’s focused on driver engagement and rewards." The most important new feature of this vehicle is the G16E GTS engine.
This turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder engine produces 305 horsepower (224 kW) and 400 Nm of torque. Interestingly, this performance crossover concept also bears the nickname Morizo, a tribute to Toyota's chairman, Akio Toyoda.

While the GR Corolla is exclusively available with a six-speed manual gearbox, the dynamic LBX comes equipped with a newly developed eight-speed automatic transmission. This torque-converter transmission made its debut in the 2024 GR Yaris at the same Tokyo Auto Salon. Similar to its application in the hot hatch, the transmission powers all four wheels in this compact crossover, which, for now, remains in the concept phase.
Known by its full name as the Lexus LBX Morizo RR, this showcar sits slightly closer to the road thanks to a stiffer suspension setup. It also features a wider body and 19-inch wheels wrapped in 235/45 R19 tires. Engineers have fitted a MacPherson strut front suspension and a double-wishbone rear, along with disc brakes at all corners. The vehicle also boasts various yellow accents, paying homage to Akio Toyoda's signature color.
A high-performance LBX would bring a significant boost in output compared to the regular version, which utilizes a hybrid powertrain producing just 134 horsepower and 185 Nm of torque. However, Lexus has not made any official statements regarding the potential production of the LBX Morizo RR.
