Mazda unveiled two exciting concepts, the Mazda Spirit Racing RS and Spirit Racing 3, at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon. The great news is that both of these remarkable vehicles will soon be in production.

The Mazda Spirit Racing RS is based on the local Japanese MX-5 Miata, known as the Roadster. Meanwhile, the Spirit Racing 3 is a modified version of the Mazda3 hatchback. While we await full details, these new enhancements are currently in development and will be available under the Mazda Spirit Racing brand.

The primary goal is to introduce track-focused cars with upgraded suspension and aerodynamics, drawing from lessons learned in the Super Taikyu Series. Although there have been some cosmetic changes inside both the Miata and Mazda3, there is no information about any power upgrades. Shigeki Saito, the MX-5 Program Manager, hinted at "very cool special editions" for the Miata, but it's not confirmed if this involves more powerful engines.

Both concepts proudly feature the Mazda Spirit Racing logo and come equipped with Rays wheels fitted with Bridgestone Potenza tires. The Miata, based on the recently launched ND3, boasts Recaro bucket seats with racing harnesses, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with a red 12 o'clock mark, a stylish body kit with decals, an enlarged exhaust tip, Brembo brakes, and blacked-out badges.

The Mazda3, on the other hand, showcases an impressively large front splitter, enlarged side skirts, and a carbon fiber rear spoiler. It also sports larger exhaust tips and darkened badges, along with Brembo brakes and a seemingly stiffer suspension, noticeable from its lower ride height. Inside the cabin, body-hugging Recaro seats, red stitching, and Alcantara details elevate the overall experience.
