BYD is considering the European launch of two SUVs, targeting competitors like the Land Rover Defender and Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

During a recent press event in Shenzhen, China, BYD executives discussed the potential export of the YangWang U8 and the Fang Cheng Bao 5 to Europe. These models would join the existing lineup of BYD vehicles available in Europe, which includes the Dolphin, Seal, Han, Atto3, and Tang SUV.

The YangWang U8 has garnered significant attention since its debut. It boasts an impressive 1,184 hp generated by four electric motors. Additionally, it features a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that acts as a range extender, supplying power to the 49.05 kWh battery pack.

It utilizes a ladder frame and is equipped with a 1.5-liter petrol engine combined with two electric motors, delivering a total output of 670 hp and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque.

According to a BYD spokesperson speaking with Auto News, both the YangWang and Fang Cheng Bao brands are likely to undergo rebranding for the European market. The company has also confirmed that its Denza brand will debut in Europe in the fourth quarter of this year.
