Production is planned to start towards the middle of 2024, with first deliveries expected from August.

Polestar 4 is now officially on sale in Europe and Australia. Following start of production and first deliveries in China at the end of 2023, online sales commence with a starting indicative price of EUR 63,200 and AUD 81,500.

“The introduction of Polestar 4 into all our markets through the course of 2024 is key to our success, adding this third model to our line-up. Polestar 4 tackles the premium performance class in the D-SUV segment. Polestar 4’s innovative interpretation of an SUV coupé offers great interior space and a stunning appearance,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.

The model is based on Geely's (SEA) architecture, which has been the basis for numerous electric vehicles in recent years. The Polestar 4 uses permanent-magnet synchronous motors, which deliver 400 kW of power and 686 Nm of torque in the dual-motor AWD version. The single-motor rear-wheel drive version delivers 200 kW of power and 343 Nm of torque.

Whatever the powertrain configuration, the battery holds 100 kWh for a range of up to 600 kilometres.

The battery can be charged with up to 200 kW in both drive variants, but Polestar does not specify the charging time from ten to 80 %. On the other hand, there is a 22 kW on-board charger for AC charging as standard.

In addition, the company confirms the vehicle-to-load function, but says it will be available at a later date. This will allow external devices to draw power from the Polestar 4's drive battery; vehicle-to-home or vehicle-to-grid are yet to come.

A heat pump is also fitted as standard to help the car use ambient heat to precondition the cabin and battery, says Polestar.

Polestar also points out that the 4 is not only the fastest to production, but also the fastest car in the range, accelerating to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
