The final Arteon liftback was actually assembled in 2023 at Volkswagen's Emden plant in Germany.

In June 2023, Volkswagen's CEO, Thomas Schäfer, unveiled a strategic decision to discontinue several lower-volume models in favor of prioritizing more popular products. Among the models mentioned was the Arteon, although the exact timeline for its discontinuation was not specified. However, it has come to light that the fancier sibling of the Passat has already met its demise, or at least, is on the brink of it.

According to a VW official who spoke to Motor1, the last Arteon liftback was manufactured in 2023. Martin Hube, the spokesperson for Arteon, Passat, Touareg, and the upcoming ID.2, confirmed that the Arteon is no longer being produced at the Emden plant in Germany. However, the Arteon Shooting Brake wagon continues to be manufactured at the Osnabrück factory.

According to Martin Hube, the life cycle of the Arteon Shooting Brake will remain unchanged and continue production until 2026. It is unfortunate that the standard Arteon will no longer be available, especially considering the latest Passat is no longer offered as a sedan.

Volkswagen is set to replace the Arteon and Passat sedans with the all-electric ID.7 liftback, starting at a price of 56,995 euros in Germany. A sneak peek has already been given, with a more practical ID.7 Tourer wagon scheduled for release in 2024.
