YangWang is a luxury brand introduced by BYD. At present, it offers a single model, the U8 EREV off-roader, starting at a price of over 1 million yuan (140K USD). YangWang is also developing three additional electric models: the U9 sports car, the U7 sedan, and an unnamed fastback crossover.
The YangWang U7 is built on the e⁴ platform, also known as YiSiFang. It boasts dimensions of 5,265 / 1,998 / 1,517 mm, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. Compared to the EQS, the U7 is slightly longer by 42 mm, wider by 70 mm, and lower by 1 mm. However, its wheelbase is 50 mm shorter. Inside, the U7 features the brand's signature three-screen layout and offers two interior variants with 4 or 5 seats.
According to MIIT, this sedan is equipped with a 135.5 kWh LFP battery manufactured by FinDreams, a subsidiary of BYD. Due to its chemistry formula, the U7's battery is quite heavy, weighing 903 kg, which accounts for about one-third of the sedan's curb weight of 3,095 kg. For comparison, the Nio's 150-kWh battery weighs 575 kg.
YangWang U7
The YangWang U7 has four electric motors, each with a remarkable peak output of 240 kW. With a total power output of 960 kW (1,287 hp), this sedan exudes impressive performance. Its top speed is 270 km/h.
The YangWang U7 will provide two cruising ranges for CLTC, depending on the modification: 720 km and 800 km. The variation in range is attributed to the drag coefficient. Additionally, the YangWang U7 will offer optional side-view cameras in place of conventional mirrors, aerodynamic wheel covers, and optional bumpers. When equipped with all aerodynamic elements, the U7 achieves a drag coefficient of 0.195 Cd.
The YangWang U7 has already been approved for sales in China. This new electric vehicle is set to debut later this year, with a goal of competing against prestigious electric sedans such as the Mercedes-EQ EQS, BMW i7, Nio ET9, and others.
