From the outside, the updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 differs from the pre-reform version by the redesigned bumpers at the front and rear, new design of alloy wheels and an enlarged rear spoiler. Due to the new bumpers, the car has become 20 mm longer and now reaches 4,655 mm. Also, the five-door model has a new rear windscreen wiper.
In addition, there is a new version of the Ioniq 5 N Line, designed to fill the gap between the regular Ioniq 5 and high-performance Ioniq 5 N. Following the example of other Hyundai models with internal combustion engines, the N Line version has a slightly sportier appearance thanks to modified bumpers, side skirts and 20-inch wheels in the original design. It also has an N Line badge on the front panel.
Inside the Ioniq 5 N Line there is a different steering wheel, sports seats, metal pedals, black ceiling, red stitching elements and N Line badges. Hyundai has also mentioned a "dynamic driving experience", hinting at chassis upgrades.
Hyundai's next-generation infotainment system is called "Connected Car Navigation Cockpit" and supports wireless software updates. Other useful innovations include improved safety equipment, a remote rear seat folding function and an in-built video recorder.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 (2024)
The updated Ioniq 5 family gets a larger 84 kWh battery pack from the Ioniq 5 N. The increase in battery capacity has a positive effect on range, although Hyundai has yet to announce official figures. The existing Ioniq 5 with a 77.4 kWh battery pack has a range of up to 507 kilometres on the European WLTP cycle or 303 miles (488 km) on the US EPA cycle.
The company did not mention any changes to the single- and dual-motor electric powertrains, which range from 170 hp (125 kW) to 325 hp (239 kW) in the existing Ioniq 5.
The refreshed Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the new Ioniq 5 N Line will be available in South Korea from March 2024, and will gradually appear in global markets within a year.
