The electric GT Lotus Emeya was launched in China on 18 January. Now prices in the UK and mainland Europe have been revealed.
The Lotus Emeya will be available in three versions:
- entry-level Emeya priced from £94,950 (€106,400)
- Emeya S, priced from £107,450 (€126,950)
- Emeya R, priced from £129,950 (€150,990)
Although these next-generation electric cars are completely unrelated to the sports cars that Lotus still assembles in the UK, outstanding performance remains a priority. As a result, the fastest Emeya is fitted with a twin-motor powertrain that delivers up to 905bhp and 985Nm to all four wheels. This is enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.8 seconds, matching the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and making the Emeya one of the fastest four-doors on the market.
Specifications for the entry-level Emeya and the mid-level Emeya S are yet to be announced, but are expected to be on par with similar Eletre models, which get 605bhp and a claimed 0-100km/h time of 4.5sec.
Lotus Emeya
The Emeya is equipped with a 102 kWh battery, which officially provides a range of up to 610 kilometres. Charging is possible with up to 350 kWh, which can increase the range by 150 kilometres in just five minutes at the fastest charging stations, Lotus claims. Refuelling from 10 to 80 per cent is claimed to take just 18 minutes.
However, the Emeya isn't all about big numbers and brute force. Its standard air suspension scans the road 1,000 times per second and actively responds to the rigidity of its surface by readjusting the dampers.
The Lotus sedan also features an abundance of active aerodynamic elements, including a grille, rear diffuser and rear spoiler, which is 100mm wider than the Eletre and activates at speed to improve stability.
Lotus Emeya
The interior combines performance-orientated elements such as carbon fibre front seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel with more luxurious elements such as individual rear seats and rear view camera mirror screens.
A 55-inch head-up display projects key information, such as driver assistance system directions and warnings, across the full width of the windscreen.
A large centre touchscreen with 5G connectivity and over-the-air updates is complemented by two slimmer digital displays - one for the driver and one for the passenger - broadly echoing the Eletre's layout.
Production of the Emeya will begin at Lotus' factory in Wuhan, China later this year. First deliveries to Europe are scheduled for this autumn.
