Last week, Kia introduced the K4, revealing only its exterior. However, at the 2024 New York Auto Show, Kia is sharing more information about the 2025 K4 sedan, which will be available for purchase in the United States later this year.

The K4, Kia's fourth-generation compact sedan, has replaced the Forte in the American market. Despite being larger than its predecessor, the K4 is still classified as a compact sedan. Measuring 185.4 inches (4,709 mm) long and 72.8 inches wide (1,850 mm), it is the largest in its segment.

Kia offers the K4 with two engine options: a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet (179 Nm) of torque and an optional turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that increases output to 190 horsepower and 195 pound-feet (265 Nm). The former pairs with a continuously variable transmission, while the latter features an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

The manufacturer also hints at a potential future GT model that would exceed 201 horsepower.

Available in trims ranging from LX to GT-Line Turbo, the K4 incorporates a suite of technological innovations and design elements inspired by Kia's EV9 concept. With interior amenities like a combined 30 inches of screen space, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, over-the-air updates, and Kia’s Digital Key 2.0 with Ultra Wideband technology, Kia ensures modern connectivity and convenience.

Design-wise, the K4 subscribes to Kia's "Opposites United" design philosophy with features such as a fastback roofline, vertical standard LED headlights, and hidden rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar.

Specifically for GT-Line models, unique design elements include distinct front and rear fascias, larger alloy wheels, satin chrome beltline trim, gloss-black accents, and enhanced lighting options - alongside a multi-link rear suspension hinting at a sportier driving experience.

Standard safety features across all trims include rear side airbags, lane-keep assist, forward collision avoidance assistance, and rear cross-traffic alert; with upgraded forward collision warning available for GT-Line Turbo models.

While Kia has not disclosed the starting price for the new K4 yet, expectations point towards an increase from its predecessor but remaining below that of the larger K5. The 2024 Kia Forte starts at $19,990.

Kia will release pricing details and the precise arrival date closer to the on-sale date. The 2025 Kia K4 will reach dealers in the second half of 2024.
