The 2024 Toyota Corolla is now available for purchase in Japan, featuring the new Active Sport trim. This special edition offers sportier aesthetics, additional equipment, and a sharper suspension setup, similar to the GR Sport trim available in other markets.
The Toyota Corolla Active Sport is available in sedan and estate (Touring Sports) bodystyles, while the hatchback option is not available. Both models are differentiated from lower trims by the redesigned front bumper with faux vents on the sides of the large central intake, which mimics the facelifted GR Yaris. They also have side skirts with the Active Sport logo, piano black accents throughout the bodywork, and ride on a new set of 17-inch black alloy wheels. The color options are limited to white, black, and gray, which can be paired with a black roof.
The Active Sport badge on the tailgate is optional. The styling touches enhance the sporty appearance of the compact model without imitating the widebody GR Corolla hot hatch flagship.

Inside, Toyota added a pair of front sport seats with integrated headrests and pronounced bolsters. The seats are upholstered in synthetic leather and “Blancnove”, with gray stitching and aluminum-style inserts contrasting an all-black interior. The dashboard has also received the same material as the rest of the car, and the vehicle comes with aluminum pedals and optional branded floor mats.

Despite its sporty appearance, the Toyota Corolla Active Sport does not offer any performance advantages over the standard models. It still features the 1.8-liter hybrid powertrain in both 2WD and AWD (E-Four) versions. The only mechanical upgrade is found on the front-wheel-drive models, which now have a new suspension setup and optimized steering for a more enjoyable driving experience.
The Toyota Corolla Active Sport is now available for order in Japan, with prices ranging from ¥3,140,300 ($20,703) for the 2WD sedan to ¥3,388,300 ($22,343) for the E-Four Touring.
