The electric tractor introduced by Seederal is not just a shift towards more sustainable farming but also offers financial advantages. Despite its higher initial purchase price compared to diesel tractors, it proves cheaper over seven years if used for 500-700 hours annually.
Seederal co-founder Arthur Rivoal highlighted the efficiency of their model in an interview with Pleinchamp, stating, "Traditional manufacturers claim that you need 13 tonnes of batteries to electrify a tractor. We don’t believe that."
Seederal’s electric tractor showcases a weight of 7 tonnes and delivers a power output of 160 hp (118 kW). Its design features include an integrated battery chassis to maximize battery density and an all-electric drivetrain, which are central to Seederal's technological advancements.
This innovation addresses major challenges in tractor electrification cited by current market leaders. Many argue that electrification is unfeasible with claims surrounding the need for excessive battery weights — an assertion Seederal actively contests with their design.
Globally, most tractors are still primarily diesel-powered due to existing manufacturing norms and infrastructure. Seederal's entrance into this market with a viable electric alternative could disrupt these longstanding practices.
