The retrofitted Renault Master can charge at 22 kW AC. The kit comes with a two-year warranty with no mileage limit and a four-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty for the battery. The price is €26,900 plus tax, with the French national retrofit bonus already deducted.
"Retrofitting is an economical alternative for professionals, as it is cheaper than buying a new vehicle and extends the vehicle's life, reducing its overall ecological footprint," Renault stated in a press release.
This conversion collaboration between Renault and the start-up TOLV, founded in 2018, stems from a strategic partnership. TOLV, previously known as Phoenix Mobility, had introduced its first retrofit kit for the Renault Trafic in 2022, with the first units delivered to businesses and public institutions last year.
Renault emphasized its commitment to the circular economy by founding The Future is Neutral in 2022. The subsidiary aims to lead the European circular economy for motor vehicles by 2030. The Flins site is central to this effort, with plans to recondition electric motors and achieve a production capacity of over 3,000 reconditioned components per year, including batteries.
Renault's circular ecosystem is built on four pillars: re-trofit, re-energy, re-cycle, and re-start. This strategy involves not only recycling but also refurbishing and retrofitting used cars, performing battery analysis and repair, and promoting a circular economy structure.
By 2030, The Future is Neutral aims to be the European leader in the circular economy for motor vehicles, targeting a turnover of over €2.3 billion and a margin exceeding 10%. Renault's existing network of subsidiaries and partners, including Gaia, Indra, and Boone Comenor, along with the Refactory in Flins, supports this goal by collecting and recycling parts, materials, and batteries from scrap cars, production rejects, and workshops.
