The hybrid system, sourced from Toyota, combines three electric motors, a battery, a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, and a continuously variable transmission. This setup produces a combined 219 horsepower and 167 pound-feet of torque, delivering up to 38 miles per gallon. Mazda has fine-tuned the system to ensure it meets their performance standards, particularly in pedal response.
The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid comes in three trims: the Hybrid Preferred starting at $35,390, the Hybrid Premium, and the Hybrid Premium Plus at $41,470 (prices include a $1,420 destination charge). All-wheel drive is standard across all trims. The hybrid model is distinguished by a unique lower front bumper, exclusive wheels, and an optional new red leather interior.
As the CX-50 Hybrid joins the lineup, the mid-range 2.5 Turbo trim, previously priced at $39,420 for 2024, has been discontinued. However, all other trims from 2024 carry over to 2025 without price changes.
The CX-50 2.5 S models continue to feature Mazda’s 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, producing 187 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. The 2.5 Turbo models retain the turbocharged four-cylinder engine, offering 256 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque.
Every 2025 CX-50 comes equipped with Alex Built-in and enhanced safety features, while Turbo models receive additional standard equipment. The non-hybrid 2025 CX-50s are expected to arrive at dealerships in August, with the CX-50 Hybrid available by the end of the year.
