Hyundai has unveiled an electric version of the popular Creta crossover in India. The first public demonstration of the novelty will be held on 17 January at the Bharat Mobility Show in New Delhi.

The front of the Creta Electric gets a closed plate with a pixelated design, while the lower bumper air intake features active aerodynamic flaps. The rear bumper also gets a pixelated design above the centre plate. From the side, the electric crossover doesn't differ much from the internal combustion engine version, although it does have a new set of 17-inch wheels with an "aerodynamic" design.

The Creta Electric crossover gets a small front boot to store charging cables and other small items. The charging connector is located behind the Hyundai emblem on the front bumper.

Inside, the new Hyundai Creta Electric has a dual 10.25-inch display and a new Hyundai Kona-style steering wheel. In addition, the new electric car gets a hovering centre console and a Hyundai Ioniq 5-style socket under the rear seat. Household appliances can be connected to this socket thanks to V2L technology.

Hyundai has not yet revealed details of the powertrain, but it is known that the Creta Electric will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, faster than the Creta N Line with an internal combustion engine. Two battery types are also claimed: a 42 kWh battery with a 390 km range under India's ARAI standard and a 51.4 kWh battery with a 473 km range.

DC charging from 10 to 80 per cent in 58 minutes and 11 kW AC charging from 10 to 100 per cent in 4 hours is available for the model.

Pricing for the Hyundai Creta Electric is yet to be announced.
