The heart of the new model is the proven 1.5-liter hybrid system from the Yaris and Yaris Cross. The four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor delivers 85 kW (116 hp), radically changing the character of the car. Acceleration to 100 km/h now takes less than 10 seconds compared to the previous 14.9. It is worth noting that the former version was equipped with a 1.0-liter gasoline engine producing 72 hp. The option of a manual transmission is also disappearing. All versions receive a planetary-type automatic transmission.
However, the electrified drive does not change the wheelbase. With a length of 2.43 meters, the car remains short and maneuverable. However, overall, the new Aygo X has grown by 76 millimeters, increasing its total length to 3.78 meters. This is 36 centimeters more than the first generation Aygo from 2005.

The front part of the smallest Toyota model now corresponds more closely to the look of the current model line. The headlights have become narrower, and the light signature continues the design line between the hood and the bumper. Additionally, the hood and grille have been modified.
The interior has undergone moderate modernization. Traditional analog instruments have been replaced by a compact digital display, and USB-C ports have been added below the climate control unit. The steering wheel features updated controls for the safety systems. The mandatory driver attention monitoring system for the EU has received an infrared sensor on the steering column.

The hybrid update will inevitably affect the price. The company representatives have yet to disclose specific figures but emphasize a focus on the overall cost of ownership, including fuel savings. It would be nice if it remained below the psychological level of 20,000 euros.

The Toyota Aygo lineup will also be supplemented with a GR Sport version featuring a revised chassis, sharper steering settings, and an aggressive design. However, there are no plans for a full-fledged GR model - Toyota believes that 116 hp is sufficient for interesting dynamics, comparable to the iconic VW Up GTI or Fiat Panda.
