Peugeot has introduced the restyled versions of the hatchback and station wagon 308. One of the brand’s most popular models has significantly changed in appearance and now has more efficient powertrains.

On the outside, the 308 now aligns more closely with the new 3008 and 5008, especially at the front. The gasoline engine remains in the range, but is now offered only with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine develops 145 hp (107 kW) and works in tandem with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The electric motor assists during start-off and in traffic jams: in the city, up to 50% of trips can be made on electric power without charging from the grid.

For those who expect more from a hybrid, the 308 Plug-in Hybrid 195 version is offered. It combines a 1.6-liter turbo engine (150 hp, 110 kW) and an electric motor with a power of 125 hp (92 kW). The total power is 195 hp (143 kW). The transmission is a seven-speed dual-clutch.

The plug-in hybrid battery with a capacity of 17.2 kWh is located in the floor and provides up to 85 km of range according to the WLTP cycle, which is significantly more than before. Charging from a 7.4 kW wall station takes about two hours. In everyday use in the city, such a hybrid can drive on electric power most of the time, saving gasoline for longer trips.

At the same time, Peugeot does not abandon diesel. Starting from spring 2026, a 1.5-liter BlueHDi with 130 hp (96 kW) will be offered for the 308, which is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This version is aimed at those who often drive on highways and value low consumption and a large range without recharging.

The range is complemented by the fully electric E-308 with a 156 hp (115 kW) motor and a battery capacity of 58.4 kWh. The range of the electric vehicle is up to 450 km. Thus, Peugeot now offers all relevant types of drive for the 308 in the European C-segment.

Orders for the updated Peugeot 308 will begin in autumn 2025. Production will be organized at the plant in Mulhouse, France. Prices have not yet been announced: currently, the Hybrid 145 version costs from €34,110 in Germany, and the diesel modification starts from €35,390.

The concept of Peugeot is clear: to offer the maximum number of versions for different scenarios. Mild hybrid - for the city, PHEV - for those who can charge at home and drive short distances, diesel - for "long-haulers," electric vehicle - for those ready for full electrification. This versatility makes the 308 one of the key models in the brand’s lineup.
