Jeep has revealed details about the second generation of the Renegade crossover, which will hit the market in the next two years. Contrary to previous plans, the new Renegade will not be exclusively electric and will also have hybrid versions.

The new Renegade will remain between the Avenger and Compass models in terms of size and cost, with the next generation measuring about 4.24 meters in length.

According to Marco Montepeloso, head of product planning for Jeep in Europe, the Renegade and Avenger audiences practically do not overlap. The compact Avenger is aimed at buyers for whom small dimensions are important, while the Renegade is suitable for those seeking space and versatility.

The design of the new Renegade will remain recognizable: classic Jeep features, a vertical profile, the legendary seven-slot grille, modern LED headlights, and accentuated wheel arches. Short overhangs, significant ground clearance, and a combination of practical materials with digital technologies in the cabin are expected.

The Renegade will feature the new Stellantis platform, likely the STLA Small. Along with the fully electric version, the lineup will include front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive mild hybrids. Jeep calls this the "Freedom of choice" principle: the variety of powertrains will allow the company to stay relevant in all regions regardless of market specifics and legislative changes.

The electric Renegade is slated to go on sale in North America in 2027, with prices starting at $30,000. In Europe, the starting price is expected to be below 30,000 euros.

The Renegade will compete with the Dacia Duster, Citroën C3 Aircross, Opel Frontera, VW T-Roc, the new generation Peugeot 2008, and the electric Renault 4 E-Tech. The manufacturer promises to maintain the image of one of the most "off-road" representatives of the B-SUV class.

Recall, the first-generation Jeep Renegade was discontinued in October this year.
