Both versions received a 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine modified by Brabus, delivering 800 hp and a maximum torque of 1000 Nm in the range of 3800–4400 rpm. The 800 Cabrio modification accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 240 km/h.
The XL version, on 22-inch off-road tires, breaks the 100 km/h mark in 4.6 seconds, with a top speed limited to 210 km/h. Fuel consumption in the WLTP cycle is 20.1 l/100 km for the XL version and 14.8 l/100 km for the road modification. Both models received a stainless steel sports exhaust system with side pipes.
Converting the closed off-road vehicle into a convertible required extensive engineering work. To confirm the structural strength, the vehicles underwent a vibration stand test with peak loads up to 7G, simulating over 100,000 km of mileage, as well as a rollover test.
Over 500 new components were designed for the folding roof. The roof opens and closes in 20 seconds, and the rear part of the fabric roof automatically folds behind the rear seats. A protective cover is provided for long-term open-top storage.
The XL 800 Cabrio version received its own Brabus-designed portal axles, which increase the ground clearance to 47.9 cm. The carbon body kit with new bumpers and massive arch extensions increased the total width of the vehicle to 2.1 meters.
The off-road monster is also equipped with a coil suspension developed in collaboration with KW. Different damper settings can be selected from the cabin. In addition, the transmission settings, steering, and driver assistance systems are adjustable depending on the operating conditions. The wheels are sized 9.5×22 inches and fitted with off-road tires sized 325/55 R22.
The more "road" G-Cabrio received wheels 10J×24 inches in the front and 12J×24 inches in the rear with Hankook Ventus S1 evo ZX tires sized 295/30 ZR24 and 355/25 ZR24, respectively. Thanks to the adjustable coil suspension, the lowering ranges from 20 to 40 mm.
The Brabus 800 Cabrio costs at least 906,185 euros. The version with portal axles and a striking red interior will cost no less than 1,056,244 euros.
