The Bavarian flagship BMW 7 Series in the G70 body has been a subject of heated debate since its debut. The huge "nostrils" and two-level optics were not to everyone’s taste. Nevertheless, the 2026 facelift is BMW's attempt to make the car more harmonious without losing its status. The update affected not only the exterior: the sedan got a digital overhaul, which we will soon see in the "Neue Klasse" lineup, and upgraded electric i7 versions.
Design: Work on Mistakes
Most of the attention was paid to the front part. The radiator grille retained its significant size but received new horizontal fills, visually making the car appear wider. Inside the "nostrils" are advanced sensors and driver assistance system cameras, equipped with their own washers.

The upper sections of the headlights are now embellished with diamond-cut crystals for daytime running lights. The main headlights are integrated into the lower bumper sections, making them almost invisible when turned off. The BMW Individual Dual-Finish personalization program has also been expanded, allowing matte and metallic colors to be combined in one body.
Interior in a Futuristic Style
The interior has become a true testing ground for next-generation technologies. The main novelty is the BMW Panoramic iDrive system. Now, information is projected across the entire width of the lower section of the windshield (Panoramic Vision). This is complemented by a 3D projection display directly in front of the driver’s eyes.
BMW 7 Series
- Passenger Screen: A separate 14.6-inch monitor with automatic dimming to avoid distracting the driver while driving.
- Operating System: BMW Operating System X based on Android provides performance comparable to modern tablets.
- Rear Cinema: The enormous 31.3-inch Theatre Screen now features 8K resolution and updated software for streaming services.
Technology: More Kilometers and Power
The electric i7 has received new-generation batteries with cylindrical cells. Usable capacity has increased to 112.5 kWh, allowing i7 50 and i7 60 xDrive versions to cover more than 700 km according to the WLTP cycle. The DC charging power now reaches 250 kW, enabling a range increase of 200 km in just 10 minutes.
For those not ready for full electrification, BMW has preserved the classic options: the 740 xDrive with a 400 hp inline-six and the 313 hp diesel 740d xDrive. Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) have also become more powerful: the top M760e xDrive delivers 612 hp and can travel more than 80 km on electricity alone. The V8 is expected to return, now as part of a hybrid setup producing over 700 hp.
