The Citroën 2CV is deservedly considered a legend in the global automotive industry, which was produced from 1948 to 1990. It was jokingly referred to as an umbrella on wheels for its drop-down roof and overall fun design. Nevertheless, the total circulation of the model was not at all comic - more than 3.8 million cars were produced in various modifications.
Designer Jean-Louis Bui was among those who were fascinated by this compact model and offered his interpretation of the car for modern conditions.
Citroën La 2 Deuche Concept
This daring mini car has been dubbed the Citroën La 2 Deuche Concept. Retro DNA is visible in the shape of the wheel arches, round headlights and the accordion-like retractable roof that turns it into a convertible. According to Jean, he drew inspiration from the simple lines and silhouette, especially the Charleston version of the original Citroën 2CV.
The rest has more modern profiles - especially on the side and back. At the same time, the Tesla Model 3-style matrix taillights and door handles give the concept a touch of futurism.
The author of the work emphasized that his concept embodies "the coat of arms of France, as well as the Eiffel Tower, a baguette or a croissant." With its styling and vibrant body color palette, it should be a playful car, just like the Citroën 2CV in its glory days.
