The size of the grill at the front of the GAC Space Concept concept van was ahead of the wildest fantasies of the designers of BMW, Audi and Lexus.

The huge illuminated front grille is not the only feature of the GAC Space Concept. The design of the car as a whole turned out to be very avant-garde, starting with a strongly inclined windshield and ending with a sharply defined stern line.

In front of the body there are two ordinary doors for the driver and passenger. But on the opposite side of the car from the driver's side, a huge gull-wing door is also installed. And as is often the case with concepts, there is no B-pillar here.

Another large door is installed at the back. It opens when the Tea Time Lounge mode is activated to make room for an electrically reclining sofa. This place begs quote  Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear: "There's nothing like that even in Maybach!"

GAC Space Concept is designed for level 4 autopilot where the computer is able to control the car in most situations. It is assumed that when you turn on the autonomous driving mode, the steering column folds into the depths of the front panel, and the driver turns around to face the passengers sitting on a comfortable sofa.

The minivan received an electric engine with a capacity of 180 hp. and a torque of 350 Nm. Electrical power is generated by an onboard hydrogen fuel cell system. With full tanks of hydrogen, the Space Concept can theoretically travel up to 650 km. In this case, a full refueling takes from three to five minutes.

During the presentation of the Space Concept minivan, GAC also announced its own 1.5-liter internal combustion engine that runs on hydrogen. Similar developments were carried out in the world before, but until recently, except for Toyota Motor, almost no one remembered about it. Whether such an internal combustion engine will appear on any production car, the GAC did not specify.
