The new all-electric motorcycles Can-Am Pulse and Can-Am Origin from the Canadian company BRP are designed in the same style. However, they differ significantly in design and purpose.
Can-Am Pulse is lower, with road tires and alloy wheels. The manufacturer positions this model as designed for daily trips around the city.
The Can-Am Origin is taller, with higher ground clearance, longer suspension ranges, spoked wheels and off-road tires. Such is the interpretation of the tourist enduro of the future with an electric motor.
Apparently, motorcycles are not yet shown in serial form. In addition, the manufacturer has not yet disclosed the technical characteristics, noting only that both models are equipped with new Rotax E-Power power plants of high power and torque.
BRP said the Can-Am Pulse and Can-Am Origin are very responsive, agile and easy to drive because they don't have traditional gearboxes. In addition, electric bikes are almost silent and devoid of vibrations.
Detailed specifications for the Can-Am Pulse and Can-Am Origin will not be revealed until August 2023, when BRP celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Can-Am brand.
In theory, the Can-Am Pulse could be a cheaper alternative to the electric Harley-Davidson LiveWire. The latter has a range of 146 miles (234 km) in the urban driving cycle, accelerates from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3 seconds and is estimated at no less than 22.8 thousand US dollars.
