The new Hyundai A-class electric vehicles will occupy the market niche of the current Hyundai i10. They are expected to compete with the upcoming Volkswagen ID.1 and ID.2, along with their sister models from Skoda and Cupra. The first will be a very compact city car, the second should be something between a hatchback and a crossover.
The compact cars will get an integrated drive module (iDM) from BorgWarner, which is capable of delivering up to 135 kW (181 hp). For a small city car, this sounds like a lot, so Hyundai is likely to limit the performance of the units. However, the appearance of "sporty" N-versions, which will reveal the full potential of the engines, is not ruled out.
Overall, Hyundai's electrification plan calls for the launch of 10 new electric vehicles in Europe by 2030.
