The maximum payload of the electric workhorse will be 1,100 kg (2,425 lbs), and the tow capacity will be 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs).

The E-Transit Custom was first revealed by Ford in May, but there were no specifics about the technical features aside from the range. The missing components of the puzzle are now coming together as a result of Ford Pro's commercial unit disclosing them.

The E-Transit Custom is available with two wheelbases and two roof heights, and it comes in a single or double cab as well as a wagon. The panel van has a maximum load volume of 5.8 to 9 cubic meters and a load compartment length of 3.45 meters. After rearranging the B- and C-pillars, Ford Pro claims that the sliding door with the largest aperture in the segment is available.

The 2024 E-Transit Custom will come standard with 135 hp (100 kW) in its basic form and 217 hp (160 kW) in the more powerful variant. In both cases, the immediately available torque is 415 Newton-meters (306 pound-feet). According to Ford Pro, it has enough power to provide diesel-like payload capacity.

The battery pack has a usage capacity of 74 kWh and uses pouch cells similar to those found in the F-150 Lightning. With 12 percent higher energy density than the E-Transit's installed battery, these enable the E-Transit Custom to run up to 380 kilometers (236 miles) on a single charge as per WLTP. The batteries can be charged quickly at up to 125 kW; 15 to 80 percent only takes 41 minutes. For a full 11 kW replenishment, it'll take just under 8 hours total.

The van, like the F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck, has ProPower Onboard technology that enables it to charge electrical equipment and other gadgets at up to 2.3 kW in both directions. Other highlights include an independent rear suspension, a lower vehicle floor, and a drag coefficient improved by 10 percent over the Transit Custom.

The Ford E-Transit Custom is a versatile and powerful electric van that is good for a range of commercial applications. It will initially be released in the fall of 2023, with pricing to follow suit closer to its market launch. The production for this model will take place in Kocaeli, Turkey.
