A new report by CNN sees some individuals who already own a Tesla with Full Self-Driving saying that it’s just not worth that kind of cash.

Tesla has increased the cost of its Full Self-Driving semi-autonomous driving software to $15,000 on September 5. Many have criticized the price since Tesla's own standards indicate that the software is still unoptimized. Some people who already own FSD have stated in recent days that it isn't worth that much money, CNN reports.

Out of the 13 people who bought a Tesla with Full Self-Driving, 11 said that it's not worth its new price. They all agreed that the technology has gotten better over time, but some said they have to be more attentive when FSD is on because it can act "unpredictably." More than 100,000 Tesla vehicles have been sold with the feature.

When buying a Tesla, customers can choose to either buy "full self-driving" outright or pay a monthly subscription fee. However, many drivers suggested that if they were in the market for a Tesla today, they would opt for the cheaper Enhanced Autopilot version instead of full self-driving. This is because full self-driving is an unfinished product which still has many imperfections.

At least a few of those who spoke with CNN to keep their optimism about the technology. They feel that "full self-driving" is worth the high price since they enjoy testing new technologies and are anticipating what "full self-driving" may ultimately become.

It's worth remembering that, regardless of the group of consumers, some will disagree with a product's value. Furthermore, out of thousands of people, a sample size of just 13 is not significant. Despite that fact, Tesla's pricing procedures are undoubtedly coming under increased investigation.

Tesla Autopilot and Full Self-Driving explained

To remind you, Tesla's standard Autopilot system includes adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assistance. The car is able to stay in its lane whilst on the highway, adapt its speed to mirror the vehicle ahead of it and prevent causing a collision.

Enhanced Autopilot allows your car to automatically change lanes by using sensors to detect the location and speed of other cars. It also has an 'Autopark' function that allows the car to park itself, but you should be prepared to take control of the steering wheel if needed according to official guidance.

The Full Self-Driving Capability package offers everything that Autopilot and Enhanced Autopilot do, but with the added features of traffic light and stop sign recognition. However, be aware that these features are still in the beta stage, which means they have not yet been perfected. Tesla warns its customers that their car may not always stop for every traffic signal at this stage, so you must be prepared to take control if necessary.
