De Tomaso Automobili is introducing P900, a sleek and curvaceous track-only machine that shuns electrification. Limited to just 18 cars at $3 million each, the company touts it as being carbon neutral thanks to a newly developed V12 engine engineered to run on synthetic fuels.

The P900's design is almost as outrageous as the Apollo Intensa Emozione (IE). Thats no coincidence, since the same design team worked on both cars. The P900's aerodynamics were perfected in a wind tunnel that Formula 1 cars use; from which the hypercar has adopted a DRS-capable active rear wing.

De Tomaso claims that the engine is the smallest and lightest V12 ever developed, at only 220 kilograms (485 pounds). It revs up to an earsplitting 12,300 rpm. This naturally aspirated engine produces 900 horsepower in a vehicle that has a dry weight of just 900 kg (1,984 lbs), giving it an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 1:1 - similar to the Koenigsegg One:1. All that power is channeled to the rear axle via an Xtrac sequential gearbox.

The V12 engine unfortunately won't be ready until the end of 2024, but customers who are willing to settle for a Judd V10 can have the car next summer. The Judd V10 is related to the engine used by the Benetton B197, which was a Formula 1 car driven by Jean Alesi and Gerhard Berger during 1997 season.

De Tomaso has not yet released performance numbers for the P900, but says it will compete with LMP race cars. The company plans to fully reveal its V12 monster next spring.
