Volkswagen will provide a glimpse of the next model in the ID. family at the CES conference in Las Vegas. The ID.7, which is set to be released in the spring of 2023, is a large sedan that will be the electric equivalent of the Passat and Arteon. The vehicle promises a range of approximately 700 km, or 434 miles, and is part of Volkswagen's plan to launch ten new electric models by 2026.

The ID.7 is based on the MEB platform, a flexible modular system used by Volkswagen and other brands in the VW Group, including Audi, Seat, and Skoda, to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of producing electric vehicles. The ID.7 features a new interface on the infotainment system, with 15-inch screen and changes to the way functions are accessed and interacted with.

Volkswagen has also implemented a new air conditioning system in the ID.7, using digitally controlled air vents similar to those found in Tesla vehicles. The system is designed to be more intuitive, turning on and adjusting the temperature when the driver approaches the vehicle with their key.

The ID.7 also boasts a natural language processing system that allows users to give specific verbal cues, such as "Hello Volkswagen, my hands are cold!", to activate certain functions like steering wheel heating. Other notable features of the ID.7 include an augmented reality head-up display and illuminated touch sliders on the bottom of the touchscreen.

The ID.7 will be sold globally in Europe, China, and the United States, with the European version being produced at the factory in Emden, Germany.
