Spy photos have captured the Baby Toyota bZ EV being tested in the wild. This vehicle appears to be based on the bZ Compact SUV concept that was revealed in Los Angeles just a couple of months ago.

The bZ is expected to be a budget-friendly EV option for the US market, and it seems that the production version will not stray too far from the concept model, based on the visible design elements under the camouflage on this prototype.

Although the size of the bZ is known (it is smaller than a RAV4 and slightly larger than the C-HR), little else is known about this new EV.

The powertrain of the bZ concept has been kept under wraps by Toyota. However, it is worth noting that the larger bZ4X comes with a 150-kilowatt motor in FWD form, while the all-wheel-drive model features a pair of 80-kW motors - one on each axle.

It is possible that the smaller bZ variant will have a lower horsepower rating than the bZ4X, and it is also possible that Toyota may opt for an ultra-economical design with a small battery and a single motor.
