The new model is expected to target a higher-end segment of the market and offer bigger profit margins. Although details about the K1 are scarce, it's said to be three times more expensive than the Cayenne, which starts at £63,700 ($76,792 or 71,260 euro) in the UK. Market launch of the model is expected around 2027.
According to the report, the K1 is being developed on Porsche's Premium Platform Electric architecture, which is a co-development with Audi. The platform will be used in the next-gen Macan and the Q6 E-Tron. The K1 is rumored to feature a 920V electric system, a large battery pack with a capacity exceeding 100 kWh, and a maximum range of 435 miles (700 kilometers) in the WLTP cycle. The vehicle is said to be fitted with oil cooling for the electric motors and all-wheel steering.
In terms of design, the K1 is said to have a "part sedan, part crossover" silhouette, measuring over five meters. It's expected to have a gently curved roof, a steeply raked windscreen, a short hood, and a liftback-style tailgate. The K1 is rumored to have a dedicated driving mode for off-roading and to be Porsche's fifth electric vehicle, joining the Taycan, Macan, Boxster/Cayman, and a purely electric Cayenne, which is expected in 2026.
The main markets for the K1 are expected to be North America and China.
