Porsche is getting ready to reveal the 2024 facelift version of its popular Cayenne luxury SUV. Prototypes have done four million kilometers (2.5 million miles) of testing in extreme conditions on four continents, from the Arctic Circle to the dunes of Morocco.

The new Cayenne sees some serious upgrades — including a semi-active chassis, HD-Matrix LED headlights and a dual-chamber air suspension with rebound and compression control for the dampers — which puts it on par with the development efforts required for an all-new vehicle.

In terms of performance, the base model receives an extra 14 horsepower and 37 pound-feet (50 Newton-meters) of torque, while the S model replaces its V6 engine with an even more powerful 4.0-liter V8 turbocharged engine that offers up 34 hp and 36 lb-ft (49 Nm) more than before. The Turbo GT will keep its 651 hp but upgrade its torque figure to 627 lb-ft (850 Nm), while all plug-in hybrid models will feature a larger 25.9 kWh battery pack and 11 kW onboard charger for increased EV range.

Cosmetic changes include a restyled exterior, fresh colors and wheel designs, along with an upgraded interior boasting a curved 12.6” digital instrument cluster, 12.3” touchscreen display running the latest infotainment tech taken from Porsche's other vehicles, plus optional 10.9” dashboard display and new climate controls for optimum comfort during long drives.
