Details: The German news site has collated data showing that 73 BMW i7s were sold in January, accounting for 43% of overall 7 series sales in Germany. This makes the EV variant by far the most popular. Other BMW EV models, such as the iX and iX3, were also successful, with each selling over 100 units in the first month of the year. These models are quickly catching up to the sales figures of the brand's popular luxury gas-powered SUVs, the X6 and X7.
While the starting price of the BMW i7 is a staggering 139,900 euros ($119,000 in the United States), it's no surprise that the automaker sold just under 100 units. Nevertheless, the i7's success follows a trend seen in BMW Group's ultra-luxury EVs, which are outperforming their gas-powered alternatives.
Additional Info: The i7 has been developed jointly with the next generation of the 7-series and delivers the same level of luxury as that gasoline-powered model. For now, the only version of the i7 that BMW offers is the all-wheel drive xDrive60 that has exactly the same 536 hp (544 PS / 400 kW) as its 760i V8 counterpart.
