Gordon Murray Automotive's new T.33 Spider supercar features a lightweight carbon composite removable roof and a naturally aspirated V12 engine, making for a thrilling open-air motoring experience.

Gordon Murray Automotive, a British supercar manufacturer, has introduced a new model to its lineup, the T.33 Spider. The supercar comes with two removable roof panels, which are made of lightweight carbon composite and can be stored in the front luggage compartment when not in use. This new roof required GMA to alter the bodywork from the A-pillar back, which included giving the Spider rollover protection and rear window glass that drops behind the bulkhead to enhance the open-air experience further.

The T.33 Spider's roof panels are available in various colors and offer an open-air motoring experience, allowing occupants to hear the naturally aspirated V12 engine behind the cabin. The supercar's interior is similar to its fixed-roof counterpart, with a large analog tachometer calibrated to 11,100 rpm at the center of the driver's display.

The T.33 Spider is designed to have up to 295 liters of storage space, including two 90-liter compartments on either side of the engine. The supercar has lightweight, race-inspired carbon-fiber seats with leather and Alcantara trim, along with a carbon-fiber steering wheel trimmed in leather. The vehicle also features aluminum alloy switchgear, pedals, and the gear shift lever.

GMA introduced its Passive Boundary Layer Control system on the T.33 Spider, which allows the company to increase downforce without increasing drag. The system feeds air into an inlet at the front that moves the air to a rear diffuser.

The T.33 Spider is powered by the same naturally aspirated Cosworth-sourced 3.9-liter V12 engine that powers the coupe, making 607 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque. The supercar is sent to the rear wheels exclusively through a six-speed manual transmission from Xtrac. The T.33 Spider features lightweight, forged alloy wheels with staggered 19- and 20-inch sizes and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires. Behind those wheels are six-piston monoblock calipers and four-piston monoblock rears measuring 370 millimeters and 340 mm in diameter, respectively.

Gordon Murray plans to produce only 100 examples of the T.33 Spider, which will be available for sale in the US, just like the coupe. The pricing has not been announced yet, but the T.33 coupe started at £1.37 million when it launched, which is $1.7 million at today's exchange rate.
