Chery Automobile performed a unique test using a T-59 tank to demonstrate the strength of the all-aluminum body of the Chery Ant compact electric vehicles.

For the test, four Chery Ants were placed side by side and a T-59 tank was placed on their roofs. The weight of this fighting machine exceeds 30 tons (66,138 lbs).

In this effort, Chery demonstrated the strength of the electric vehicle's power structure, which consists of 68.7% aluminum alloy of the 6000 series. According to the manufacturer, the use of this material made it possible to increase the rigidity of the structure by 20% while maintaining its lightness. Allegedly, the deformation of the hatchback bodies was so insignificant that the doors of the cars did not even jam.

The length of the Chery Ant is only 3.2 m (10.49 ft). The electric vehicle uses a 41-horsepower engine and a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 30.6 or 38 kWh, depending on the trim. The range is 236 to 320 km (146 to 199 miles) in the WLTP test cycle. Chery Ant in China is priced from $8,710 to $12,200.
