Porsche has unveiled the latest addition to its line-up, the 718 Spyder RS. This model is essentially a Cayman GT4 RS with infinite headroom, featuring a lightweight, manually operated fabric roof.

The single-layer canopy, along with the wind deflector, weighs just 18.3kg, which is 7.6kg lighter than the standard 718 Spyder's roof and a significant 16.5kg lighter than the 718 Boxster's system. Aside from the convertible roof, the Spyder RS is similar in appearance to its coupe sibling. However, it's been lowered by 30mm and sits on 20-inch forged wheels that can be swapped for magnesium rims as an option.

Porsche says the Spyder RS is not merely a copy of the Cayman GT4 RS, with different suspension tuning aimed at achieving a more comfortable ride and meeting customers' expectations of a cabriolet.

Under the hood, the Spyder RS boasts a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated engine, identical to the one found in the 911 GT3. This six-cylinder boxer engine churns out 500 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels via a short-geared seven-speed PDK transmission. This combination allows the Spyder RS to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 308 km/h.

The Spyder RS is available to order in Germany for €151,215, with the option of adding a matching titanium watch. The model will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2023, with deliveries beginning simultaneously.
