Honda has officially unveiled the highly anticipated sixth-generation CR-V in Europe. The European version shares a striking resemblance to its North American counterpart on the outside, but it's the differences under the hood that truly set it apart.

The new CR-V showcases a more muscular appearance, featuring a steeply angled and wider grille. Honda has opted for a more restrained use of chrome compared to its predecessor, though a small chrome strip connects the LED headlights on the sides of the grille.

On the sides, you'll notice small Air Curtains, which direct airflow around the wheels, enhancing aerodynamics. At the rear, the connecting trim between the taillights has been removed, maintaining the distinct taillight shape but with a more modern touch.

Moreover, the all-new CR-V has grown in size, gaining ten centimeters in length and four centimeters in wheelbase. This increase in dimensions translates into more interior space and 18% expansion of the cargo area. With a double floor, the plug-in hybrid variant offers an additional storage compartment with a volume of 72 liters.

Dimensions of the new Honda CR-V:

  • Length: 4703 mm
  • Width: 1866 mm
  • Height: 1692 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2700 mm
  • Trunk volume: 586 liters

The larger dimensions of the CR-V result in improved comfort for passengers. Even individuals measuring up to 1.90 meters can enjoy ample space in the second row. Notably, the door panels are covered with a soft-touch material, offering a touch of luxury in the rear seating area.

The cockpit welcomes drivers and passengers with a combination of soft-touch surfaces and a range of storage compartments. Positioned in the center console is a 9-inch infotainment screen, complemented by buttons and knobs for climate control. In terms of technology, the CR-V incorporates Honda's Human Machine Interface (HMI) infotainment system, along with an array of new driver-assistance features. These include a 360-degree camera system designed to enhance safety and convenience during your journeys.

While the American CR-V boasts a base model equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, the European variant takes a different approach. It introduces a hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine supplemented by two electric motors. Additionally, Honda offers a plug-in hybrid option for Europe, combining the same combustion engine, dual electric motors, and a larger battery pack. Remarkably, this configuration allows for an impressive all-electric range of up to 51 miles (82 kilometers), and the battery can be fully recharged in just 2.5 hours. Both versions delivering a combined output of 184 horsepower.

The power is transmitted through an e-CVT transmission, and Honda claims a top speed of 193 km/h. While the front-wheel drive is standard, customers can opt for the available all-wheel-drive system.

The new Honda CR-V will enter the European market at the end of 2023. Prices have not yet been announced, but it can be assumed that the base price will exceed 40,000 euros.
