Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road variant has been spotted for the first time, showcasing its off-road capabilities and distinct design features. The TRD Off-Road offers two powertrain options, including a turbocharged engine and a hybrid i-Force Max setup.

Toyota recently unveiled the highly anticipated next-generation Tacoma, putting the spotlight on its top-tier offerings like the TRD Pro and the Trailhunter. However, it's important not to overlook the TRD Off-Road variant, which is likely to be the popular choice among customers at your nearest Toyota dealership. Thanks to the Tacoma4G forum, we now have the first glimpse of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road, courtesy of user Kraygz.

The latest model boasts striking features such as black wheel arches, scene lighting, a sunroof, and an eye-catching Solar Octane exterior paint. Embracing the design philosophy of off-road vehicles, the truck predominantly incorporates sleek black trims from front to back, in contrast to the chrome elements seen in other variants like the flagship TRD Pro. Instead of the heritage "TOYOTA" script found on the TRD Pro's grille, the TRD Off-Road opts for the brand's standard logo.

In terms of off-road capabilities, the TRD Off-Road variant is equipped with monotube Bilstein remote reservoir shocks, providing extended wheel travel and efficient heat dissipation. It also features an end stop control valve (ESCV) to enhance damping force. Further enhancing its off-road persona, the TRD Off-Road includes advanced features like Crawl Control, Multi-Terrain Select (MTS), and an electronic locking rear differential.

Under the hood, the TRD Off-Road offers two powertrain options. The first is a non-hybrid 2.4-liter turbocharged engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission, delivering 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Alternatively, customers can opt for the new i-Force Max setup, which combines a 2.4-liter engine with a 48-volt electric motor. The i-Force Max powertrain generates a combined output of 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, nearly doubling the performance of the current V6 power unit.

While the non-hybrid Tacomas are expected to hit the market later this year, the hybrid versions are slated for an early 2024 release. Toyota has yet to disclose pricing details, but it is anticipated that the Tacoma TRD Off-Road will be positioned between the TRD Sport and Limited models, offering a compelling choice for off-road enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
