2024 Mitsubishi Triton Unvield: Bold styling, advanced safety and improved underpinnings take center stage

Mitsubishi has unveiled the sixth generation of the Triton/L200 midsize pickup truck, which is a full redesign after 9 years. The update aims to enhance its competitiveness against rivals like the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.

The new Triton/L200 features boxier and more rugged styling, with a larger grille, split headlights, and an evolved version of Mitsubishi's Dynamic Shield at the front. The rear has larger LED taillights.

The pickup is based on a newly developed ladder frame chassis, which brings a 40% increase in bending rigidity and 60% increase in torsional rigidity compared to its predecessor. The chassis and suspension improvements are claimed to offer significantly better road performance and ride comfort.

The Triton/L200 is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with three power outputs: 148 hp, 181 hp, and 201 hp. Power is sent to all four wheels through either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox, and it features various drive modes and 4WD systems.

The company has high expectations for the new Triton/L200, with plans to produce 200,000 units in over 100 countries. Mitsubishi's president and CEO sees it as an extremely important model and the first global strategic vehicle in their growth phase.
