Lamborghini Lanzador concept debuts with 1,341 hp, teases first electric Lamborghini

Two years ago, Lamborghini confirmed that it would launch some kind of all-electric car. Now we get our first glimpse of what that will be with the Lanzador concept. It's a prelude to a production model that will be sold alongside other mainstream models like the Urus, Revuelto, and the Huracán's successor.

The styling of the Lanzador is unmistakably Lamborghini, with its wedge-shaped body that runs from the front to the back. The massive fenders, narrow headlights, and hexagonal taillights are also recognizable features. It appears to be an SUV or crossover due to its high ride height and the 2+2 seating arrangement. Lamborghini refers to it as an "Ultra GT". 

It has only two doors, or three including the rear. The Lanzador received 23-inch wheels which are hexagonal versions of the classic Lamborghini phone-dial wheels. Located just above those wheels are some discreet air vents tucked away in the wheel well. These vents are only a few of the advanced components used for active aerodynamics, which can enhance either drag for improved car efficiency or downforce for optimal vehicle stabilization at higher speeds.

Inside, the car features two sets of eye-catching sports seats that allow the driver and passengers to fully enjoy the "Ultra GT" lifestyle. The dashboard comprises two cowls with displays for both the driver and the passenger. In the center are clustered controls with an alien spacecraft-like style for operating the infotainment functions. The automaker also recycles some carbon fiber by combining reprocessed pieces with a top layer for a more attractive finish. In addition to seating four people, the rear cargo area offers considerable volume and versatility thanks to folding rear seats and a rear door. Furthermore, there is a front trunk as well.

Although Lamborghini has not released many specifics, they state that the Lanzador would utilize a pair of electric motors for all-wheel drive, providing an output of 1,341 horsepower (or over 1 megawatt, as stated by Lamborghini). The rear powertrain would also utilize torque vectoring and rear steering. It rides on adjustable air suspension. Other important aspects, such as the electric range and charging capabilities, were not specified.

Although it is still a concept, the Lanzador previews Lamborghini's first production electric car. The car is scheduled to go into production in 2028, so it will be a while before the final product is revealed. In the meantime, Lamborghini is gradually transitioning to electric power. All Lamborghini's products will be partially electrified (for instance, hybrids) by the end of next year.
