Rimac, known for its electric hypercar Nevera, is venturing into mass mobility with its autonomous 'robotaxi', slated for a 2024 reveal and commercial launch in 2026.

While specific details are sparse, Rimac has confirmed some investment from Kia. Mate Rimac, the company's founder and CEO, emphasizes that the robotaxi project, unlike the Nevera, aims to revolutionize urban mobility, offering accessible electric transport.

The robotaxi will feature full autonomous driving capabilities, functioning within a comprehensive ecosystem including chargers, storage, and parking solutions, developed by Rimac alongside the vehicle.

Intriguingly, Rimac has hinted at a unique design for the robotaxi, focusing on interior space optimization and electric efficiency. Insights into the vehicle's size and design may be inferred from Rimac's use of a Renault Espace MPV for testing.

Mate Rimac envisions this service transforming urban commutes, offering premium quality without necessitating high costs.

Project 3, with its heart in Zagreb and an R&D wing in the UK, is prioritizing the construction of a dedicated robotaxi factory. Post-launch, the project plans to expand operations internationally. Mate Rimac aspires for Croatia to be the production hub, exporting thousands of units annually to support global robotaxi services.

The company is reportedly in discussions with 20 cities across Europe and the Middle East about offering the service after a pilot scheme in Zagreb. Rimac’s website details a plan for it to be in operation in Croatia by 2026, followed a year later by Germany and the UK.
