The truck's batteries are recharged with green electricity from renewable sources each time it is loaded and unloaded.

BMW has introduced the use of fully electric trucks for the transportation of parts between different areas of its Regensburg plant. Two of the trucks are used to transport high-voltage batteries, while the third carries floor panels for BMW vehicles.

Although BMW does not specify the models, press photos reveal that at least one of the vehicles is from DAF. The trucks cover routes of approximately 8 kilometers, making nearly 30 round trips per day. The e-trucks are emission-free and quiet, making them suitable for inner-city roads.

BMW plans to expand their use in the future by identifying other heavy goods vehicle routes that can be electrified. To support the continuous operation of the trucks, BMW has installed 250 kW chargers at three stops along the routes. The charging points are located near docking gates and enable the batteries to be recharged during the loading and unloading process.

The e-trucks and charging infrastructure were procured through logistics service provider Preymesser, with funding from the KsNI program and the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs.
