Citroen unveiled its fourth-generation C3 with both internal combustion engine (ICE) and mild hybrid versions. This launch follows the debut of the electric e-C3.

The entry-level Citroen C3 features a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine, delivering 100 hp. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. Another option is the Hybrid 100 model. It uses the same base engine paired with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery and an electric motor that adds up to 28 hp, with 12 hp dedicated to acceleration. This version has a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Design-wise, the new C3 shares identical bodywork with the e-C3 but lacks the 'e' emblem, displaying instead a C3 badge on the tailgate. It comes in two trim levels: "Max" and "You." The interior boasts a minimalist dashboard design. The Max trim includes a 10.25-inch display, whereas the You trim offers a practical smartphone holder. Equipment options include automatic A/C, wireless charging, and smartphone mirroring, while ADAS features are primarily limited to the essentials.

For comfort and space, the new C3 does not disappoint. It measures 4,015 mm in length, has a ground clearance of 197 mm, and offers 310 liters of boot capacity—providing more interior space and easier ingress than its predecessor. Seats are plush thanks to generous foam padding; suspension benefits from Citroen Advanced Comfort technology with hydraulic cushions. Furthermore, it is based on EU-spec Smart Car architecture with some region-specific modifications.

Deliveries of the 2024 Citroen C3 are expected to start this summer. In France, prices start at €14,990 for the C3 You with a 1.2-litre engine and manual gearbox. By comparison, the outgoing C3, which was originally launched in 2016 and received a facelift in 2020, is currently priced from €16,590. As for the fully electric 2024 Citroen e-C3, it starts at €23,300, although a more affordable version will follow in 2025 with a price tag of €19,990.

The main competitor for this updated model is Dacia Sandero Stepway. However, there is also potential competition from Fiat’s next-gen Panda expected around Summer 2024.
