Dongfeng is gearing up to introduce the M-Hunter, its new rugged off-road vehicle, at the Beijing Auto Show next week. The unveiling carries significant weight as this is only the second off-roader from Dongfeng's Mengshi Technology brand, following the previous year's release of the M-Hero 1.

The M-Hunter steps away from conventional designs by featuring no doors or windshield. It boasts a striking red roll cage and squared-off wheel arches that emphasize its robust build. Its structure includes unusual horizontal bars instead of typical doors and a hood crafted from lightweight carbon fiber. Notably, it features sharp LED headlights, red recovery hooks, a sizeable winch on the front bumper, roof-mounted LEDs, and an expansive roof rack. Additionally, its set-up includes two spare wheels mounted at the rear.

This vehicle sits on mud-terrain tires designed for maximum off-road performance. With these specifications, it becomes apparent that the M-Hunter is positioned to be one of the top dedicated off-roaders available.

In terms of power options, Dongfeng could offer either a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) or an Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) configuration for the M-Hunter. By comparison, last year’s model came equipped with either 1,072 hp in its BEV edition or 805 hp with the EREV setup.

It is also anticipated to be one of the priciest vehicles in China, with local media reporting an expected starting price well over 1 million yuan, or $140,000, likely surpassing the cost of the far more luxurious BYD YangWang U8.

All comprehensive details regarding Dongfeng’s latest offering are set to be disclosed during their presentation at the Beijing Auto Show.
