In July, the EZ-6 reached a significant production milestone when it rolled off the assembly line at Changan Mazda, Mazda's joint venture in China. This event marked a crucial step in Mazda's electric vehicle strategy.
Mazda and Changan Mazda have signed an Electric Vehicle Export Cooperation agreement. This deal designates Changan Mazda as the exclusive Chinese new energy R&D and production base for the global market.
The vehicle made its global debut at the Beijing International Auto Show in April. The global launch of the EZ-6 is set for Fall 2024, with initial markets including China and Europe.
Mazda has focused on driving pleasure in the EZ-6's performance. The company aims to transcend the Jinba-Ittai (car and driver as one) concept of the Mazda 6. Experts from Mazda's European R&D center carried out dynamic performance tuning and validation at the Chongqing Automobile Testing Grounds, China's highest specification automotive test field.
The EZ-6's intelligence features come from Changan Automobile, Mazda's Chinese partner. These include Level 2.5 autonomous driving assistance, powered by a 7nm Qualcomm SA8155P chip. The car uses four high-definition panoramic cameras and twelve high-performance ultrasonic radars.
"The EZ-6 can perform autonomous parking, remote parking, remote intelligent parking, and trace-back parking," Mazda said.
