The production Renault 5 Turbo 3E gets a three-door body and a design with many references to the original 1980s model. Instead of the rear doors of the regular Renault 5, the extended fenders house air vents. One of these air intakes will have a charging socket.
Massive 20-inch two-tone wheels are "shoehorned" into 245/35 ZR20 tyres at the front and 275/35 ZR20 at the rear. Renault has abandoned the huge spoiler of the concept R5 Turbo 3E, but retained a large diffuser at the rear.
Renault 5 Turbo 3E (2026)
The electric Renault 5 Turbo 3E, like its predecessor, will be rear-wheel drive. But instead of a 160bhp 1.4-litre turbo engine, here there are two electric motors on the rear axle with a combined output of "over 500bhp". That's more than the Alpine A290 (285bhp) and 350bhp more powerful than the standard Renault 5.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in the Renault 5 Turbo 3E takes just 3.5 seconds - a figure that puts this hatchback on a par with supercars.
Exact dates of appearance of Renault 5 Turbo 3E on sale, as well as prices, are not yet named. It is rumoured that the production model will hit the market in 2026.
